Tyler BOE Recognizes Outstanding Teachers, Staff
Tyler County Board of Education members recognized several award-winning teachers on Monday, June 4. Those present included: Tricia Feldmeier, Director of Human Resources; Jeff Davis, Treasurer; Stacey Roberts, Executive Secretary; Susan Boyles, Director of Curriculum and Instruction; Kent Yoho, Principal of TCHS; Suzette Miller, Principal of TCMS; Krista DeVaughn, Principal of SES; Bryce Negie, Ron Lattanzio, Erica Shirer, Cynthia Jones, Jami Nelson, Destry Nelson, Connie Fletcher, Linda Liebold, Patricia Fletcher, Katrina Byers, Michelle Beagle, Valerie Northcraft, Dave Roberts, Lue Ann Cooper and Tom Cooper
Superintendent Daquilante recognized the 2017-18 Teachers of the Year which included Michelle Beagle, Erica Shirer, Jami Nelson, and Bryce Negie, and presented them with plaques and certificates. She also presented a plaque and certificate to Service Personnel of the Year, LueAnn Cooper.
Superintendent Daquilante then recognized the Retirees for the 2017-18 school year which included Connie Fletcher, LueAnn Cooper, Cynthia Jones, Susan Boyles, and Linda Liebold. They were presented with certificates as well.
In other news, the board approved the following policy: “Tyler County Policy: JQ – Student Random Drug Testing” as well as placing the following policy: “Tyler County Policy: GL Leave for Illnesses and Other Leave” on a two week comment period.
The athletic schedules for Tyler Consolidated High School Volleyball 2018-19 and Tyler Consolidated Middle School Volleyball 2018-19 were approved.
The board approved Connie Stewart’s request to take four FCCLA members to the National FCCLA Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
The conference is scheduled for June 27 – July 3, 2018.
Stewart also requested for her daughter, Haley Stewart, to attend the conference. Parents will provide transportation to the Clarksburg area to meet the bus.
The board members passed a motion accepting the resignations of Daniel Cooper, custodian, effective June 1, and Susan Boyles, executive director of curriculum and instruction, effective June 30.
The following employments or transfers and rescissions were accepted: Transfer Kristen Cunningham from Title I reading teacher to coordinator of instructional technology, effective July 1.
Employ Alyssa Minor and Christina Duke as substitute teachers for the remainder of the 2018-19 school year, effective immediately.
Employ Alyssa Minor as Multi-Categorical SPED including gifted teacher at Sistersville Elementary School and Arthur I. Boreman Elementary School, effective at the beginning of the 2018-19 school year.
Employ Jessica Fiber as substitute teacher, countywide, effective immediately.
Employ Gary Denning, Russell Blatt, Tim Patterson, Jake Roberts, Melissa Snyder, Stacey Wade, Lisa George, Martin Parrish and Sarah Patterson as summer painters, effective July 2.
The next Regular Meeting will be held on Monday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Tyler County Board of Education Office, located on Dodd Street in Middlebourne.
