Strode Runs for Commission
Scott Strode is a lifelong Tyler County resident and Republican candidate for Tyler County commissioner. Strode is married to Laci Strode who is currently employed as a ELA teacher at Tyler Consolidated Middle School. They have four children Caleb, Brady, Cam and Ella.
Strode, who is a 1994 graduate of Tyler Consolidated has maintained his ties to his alma mater by volunteering in various aspects of the sports programs continuing to the present as public address announcer for home football games.
Strode had long been a fixture in the business community in Tyler County until 2010 operating Strode’s Barber Shop from 1996 until 2010 while also a partner in BDS Racing Promotions group who operated Tyler County Speedway from 2004 until 2008.
Strode’s career took a turn from entrepreneurship to employment in November of 2010 with Chris Metz State Farm in St Mary’s as a multi-line representative handling various duties including sales of all lines, banking and marketing. Strode’s career path took another sharp turn in July of 2015 when he accepted a job with Ascent Resources as a Lease Operator. As lease operator he operated and maintained production oil wells and associated facilities. Building on that experience Strode then accepted a position most recently in October 2017 as Operation Tech at Williams operating a gas compression and processing facility in Ohio County.
Strode’s political experience spans three and a half years as a member of the Tyler County Board of Education. Winning one of the three seats up for grabs Strode saw himself come out on top of the 2014 non-partisan election. While on the board Strode gained valuable experience in county policy, county budgets and identification of problem areas. Strode’s place on the board ended in January 2018 with resignation to allow for candidacy for commissioner.
Along with Strode’s many volunteer hours in Tyler Consolidated sports, he’s also devoted countless hours to Middlebourne Youth League as a coach, referee, umpire and board member spanning 24 years. Also most recently Strode founded SilverStar Athletics, a non-profit organization which is providing area youth with additional opportunity through sports.
