Larry is very much a family man. He is the son of Jack and Nila Thomas of Indian Creek and has been married to Sandy Thomas for 38 years. Sandy is employed as a Deputy Clerk for the Tyler County Clerk’s Office and is a member of the Adams House Ministries Advisory Committee. Together Larry and Sandy have three sons. Shane (Carrie) Thomas of Ludowici, GA where Shane is employed by Target Warehouse, Ben (Katrina) Thomas of Middlebourne where they are employed as teachers by Tyler County Schools, and Ryan (Shawna) Thomas of West Union where Ryan is employed as Deputy Sheriff and a School Resource Officer of Doddridge County. Altogether, Larry and Sandy have eight grandchildren.

Larry is excited about the future of Tyler County Schools and wants to be a voice for you. He wants to make Tyler County Schools strong by addressing concerns pertaining to student achievement and discipline, school facilities, bullying and personnel. Having served on the Board of Education for 16 years, Larry is aware and will be committed to upholding policies and laws to help Tyler County Schools continue to flourish in academic excellence. He hopes to promote students in their academics and extracurricular activities in efforts to empower them to pursue their goals in life while increasing awareness of the effects of bullying among children of all ages.

Larry believes that School Resource Officers create awareness related to school safety, works closely with school administrators, monitors those who visit schools and attends many school functions resulting in trust and good public relations and should be a visible presence at each of our schools. Larry supports local job fairs to attract personnel here. Larry believes that a new bus garage is needed for the care and maintenance of our buses assuring the safety of the students.

Currently he is serving on the Board of Council of Seniors Tyler Countians (Tyler County Senior Center, Middlebourne, WV).

He wants to pledge support and wish the best of luck to all the candidates running for the Tyler County Board of Education.
