Sisters Fest Planned for March 16-17 in Sistersville
Sisters near and far will gather in Sistersville March 16-17 for the 19th Annual Sisters Fest! The yearly celebration marks the bond among sisters and friends. This year’s theme is “Sisters Favorite Sports.”
The fun will kick off Friday, March 16 with 6 p.m. registration.
It is requested that attendees send in forms and fees prior to the event for planning purposes. Those whose forms and money were postmarked by March 1 were entered in a drawing to win $100.
Registration is accepted at the door, however, but attendees are reminded that events fill up quickly! A $12 registration is required for all events.
At 7 p.m., March 16, the Appetizer and Dessert Contest will take place. This event is free if registration has been paid. Each entry for the Appetizer and Dessert Contest will be entered to win $25.
Attendees are asked to bring their favorite dish! Participants will taste and vote for their favorite in the categories of Best Dessert, Best Appetizer, Best Theme Food (a dessert or appetizer that best represents this year’s theme of Sisters Favorite Sports). Food must be registered by 7 p.m. to be part of the judging. Judging starts promptly at 7 p.m., no eating until announced!
At 8 p.m., March 16, the sisters-favorite “Variety Show” will take place. Attendees will perform a skit, sing a song, or recite a poem. Cost is $5 per act sign-up. People Choice winner(s) get all the money.
Saturday, March 17 is filled with fun for sisters and friends.
From 9:30-10:55 a.m., Bingo will be played. Cost for a 10 game book is $10, and winners of games 1-9 will receive gift baskets. Game #10 cover all winner will receive 1/2 of book sales money.
Brunch will take place from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and the cost is $10. Attendees were asked to pre-register with mail-in payment. The location of the brunch will be the Sistersville Methodist Church.
The Lions Club women will prepare a wonderful spread for the enjoyment, and proceeds from the brunch will go toward the Lions Club. Attendees are asked to also bring old eyeglasses for donation to the Lions Club.
From 12:40-2:15 p.m., attendees will play the “How Well Do You Know Your Sister?” game show! Following the game show, attendees will review rules and paperwork for the AMAZING RACE game, which will then be held from 2:15-3:30 p.m.
From 2:15-4:30 p.m., indoor games and activities will take place in the Elks Ballroom.
From 4:30-6 p.m., the Elks Ball Room will be closed, due to banquet set up. The banquet itself will be held at 6 p.m. The cost for dining at the banquet is $15, and the menu will include stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, slaw, green beans, dessert, and coffee/tea. The meal will be prepared and served by Elks members.
Attendees were urged to pre-register by mail, with payment. Only a few tickets will be available Friday night for purchase, and please do not ask Sisters Fest staff to hold tickets for you!
Banquet events, in no specific order are: Yankee Gift Exchange, bring a new $10 wrapped gift to the banquet (must be present and bring gift to participate); Costume Contest and Parade, held in ballroom and prizes will be awarded for Best Single Person costume and Best Group Costume; weekend awards; group picture, taken at the end of the banquet.
Sistersville, location of Sisters Fest, is approximately one hour from Marietta (Ohio), one hour from Wheeling (W.Va.), and two hours from Charleston (W.Va.) and Pittsburgh (Pa.), and three hours from Columbus (Ohio).
Set in historic Sistersville, a unique town on the banks of the Ohio River, Sisters Fest provides an opportunity for sisters to enjoy a weekend together and celebrate sisterhood. No sister? No worries! Bring a friend or mother!
Also, it is recommended to wear “Sports” attire on Saturday night for the contest, picture, and banquet. Otherwise, any attire is acceptable for other times. Some sisters wear themed shirts, some wear dresses, and others wear jeans. It is asked to use discretion in dress/costumes and skits, as ladies from 16 to 90 and above attend Sisters Fest. Activities are kept G-Rated.
