Thomas Announces Candidacy For Commission
Steve Thomas, a Republican, is announcing his candidacy for County Commission in Tyler County. If elected, Thomas promises to work “with You, and for You, the people of Our Tyler County to make a difference, for the betterment of Our Tyler County.”
Thomas is a 1989 graduate of Tyler County High School and a 2015 graduate of DeVry University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Human Resource focus. Thomas lives in Friendly, W.Va., with his wife Rebecca (Becky). The two have four children.
Thomas said he was was raised on Indian Creek Road “by my amazing parents, Jack and Nila Thomas, who taught all of us children, the Ethics and Morals we have.”
“I have had the privilege to serve the communities I have lived in on the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, City Council, served on committees of the South Dakota Municipal League, served on Former Governor of South Dakota, Michael Rounds 2010 Initiative, Board of Director for the North Dakota EMS Association where we did lobbying for EMS support and for EMS improvements across the state of ND,” said Thomas.
Thomas believes this experiences helps prepare him to serve as a County Commissioner for “OUR TYLER COUNTY and the importance of networking to bring growth.”
Thomas said he stands for Servant Leadership, Our American Freedoms, Accountability, Transparency, Being Ethical, and Truthfulness.
Thomas’ topics of concerns are Communications (Cellphones, Landlines, and Internet), Public Water for all residents, Tourism, Economic Development, Emergency Services, Beautification, Our aging population and Veterans (Their needs and care), and Our Youth, to have opportunity right here at home.
Thomas said classroom instruction and mentoring at a young age in leadership has taught him principles on staying focused, team work, hard work,discipline, honesty, “and to never stop believing yourself.”
“It’s my time to give back,” said Thomas, “to be the leader and servant I was taught here to be, to be an inspiration to all ages, and to say Our Tyler County, We Can Make A Difference!”

Thomas said he is interested in listening and speaking to churches, social groups, business owners, farmers, and individuals about their desires for “the Betterment of Our Tyler County.”
