At the Jan. 29 meeting of the Friends of the Paden City Pool, plans were made for fund-raising events for 2018.

Friends of the Paden City Pool will be raffling off a quilt called Smoky Mountain Strong Southern Charm. The quilt was part of silent quilt auction to raise money for victims of the fires in Gatlinburg, Tenn. and was won by Barbara Hopkins. Barbara has donated the quilt, and it’s getting a second chance to raise money for a nonprofit. The quilt will be on display at the Paden City Public Library, and tickets may be purchased there. Cost for tickets is $1 each or 6 for $5.

Tickets may also be purchased from any “Friends of the Pool” member.

On Monday, Feb. 19 there will be a Pancake Dinner at the Nazarene Church’s Fellowship Hall from 5-7 p.m. Menu will consist of hot cakes, sausage, orange juice, milk and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults, children age 6-12 is $3, and children five and under are free. Along with the Pancake Feed, there will be a Chinese Auction.

A “Soup and Baked Goods” sale is planned for March to be held at the library. The date has not been set, but watch for a sign in front of the library.

Members will be selling the popular Sarris candy bars again, and they will be available at the library and from members of Friends of the Pool.

All money raised will be used to fund operation expenses and improvements for the Paden City Swimming Pool.
