Antero to Get Water From Tyler County PSD

By Staff | Dec 27, 2017

Tyler County PSD Manager Tina Lancaster said the PSD is still in discussion with Antero over the company’s interest in purchasing water to use for concrete work at its Next Road location. During the Dec. 18 PSD meeting, Lancaster informed board members that, because it was a temporary service, Antero would be responsible for 100 percent of installation costs, according to the Public Service Commission. She also noted that Antero would be placed into the billing system as a regular two inch commercial/industrial customer. Antero agreed to the rates, so the company is proceeding forward with the deal.

Lancaster announced to the board that the PSD is not able to use WesBanco to set up a payment process that would allow customers to pay their bills with debit/credit cards due to costly fees of $2,000 to $5,00 a month.

“The Public Service Commission suggested that we go through a different company other than WesBanco in that the customer will pay the fee directly to that company,” said Lancaster

Lancaster obtained a list of companies that are compatible with the billing software. She noted that there would possibly be a one time fee between $750 to $1,000. However, each transaction fee will go directly to the company.

The PSD experienced issues with Frontier last month. It took Frontier workers two weeks to repair phone service, and an additional week before the fax and Internet services were repaired. After all services were repaired, Frontier credited the account $138 for the following month’s bill. The PSD is now researching phone service costs through AT&T.

Difficulties continue with Precision Pipeline breaking waterlines. The company’s bill is now $3,731.35 increasing from last month’s total of $2,700.

In other matters, Lancaster met with Cerrone Associates to acquire an estimate on future sewer upgrades.

The board also approved the following:

* a contract for Sandy Marsh to clean the PSD offices for $12 and hour;

* a new leak adjustment policy that would allow the PSD to look at each individual case and decide if an adjustment is necessary;

* the purchase of controllers and exhaust filter kits from Airvac for $3,523.75;

* and to restock the water inventory for approximately $2,500.

The next PSD meeting is Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. in Friendly.
