ALICE Training Available for Local Churches
The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend their services to any church in Tyler County. The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office has two certified ALICE Instructors in the department. ALICE training is a civilian response to an active shooter and the Sheriff’s Department would like to offer this training to any church in Tyler County. The training is essential to survival in the event of an active shooter. The Sheriff’s Department will come into the church and give advice on ways to make the building safer and more secure for the church members. The training will provide members of the church a skill set that will raise the level of survival in the event that an active shooter were to occur.
This training can be utilized by the members no matter what environment they find themselves. The training is available for all ages. This training has already been utilized by the Tyler County School System for it’s staff and students.
If any churches are interested in this service, they may contact the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm at (304) 758-4229. Ask for Lt. Shannon Huffman. The Sheriff’s Department hopes that all of the churches in the county take advantage of this potential life saving program.
