Paden City Council Discuss Parking Problems at School
Paden City held a council meeting last week to discuss matters needing to be addressed by the city. Paden City has had trouble sustaining a quorum due to the fact that Mayor Davis resigned and other council members have been ailing. In a previous meeting, council members had appointed Ken Stead as the new mayor but that motion had been receded in order for Stead to serve as a council member while recorder Tammy Billiter ran the meeting in order to form a quorum.
Council members had discussed placing no parking signs in front of the school that restrict parking from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The signs will be on Stevens St. between 3rd and 4th Street and there will not be parking within 30 feet of a stop sign.
Council members discussed Trick-or-Treat times and a motion passed to extend the hours from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. The Halloween Parade is scheduled from 5:00pm – 6:00pm on the 31st prior to Trick-or-Treat. This will allow the kids to participate in both the parade and the Trick-or-Treat activities. It was also mentioned that there are 22 station setup along the Haunted Trail.
The city was given permission to advertise for a utility clerk for the city. The position will start off part time with potential to turn into a full time position.
A motion passed allowing the city to approve and publish the fiscal year information. Also, the Wetzel County BOE has requested to use the council room for the 38th precinct for a special election on December 16.
The water department opened bids for a booster pump for Meadow Heights. The winning bid was won by Engineered Fluid Inc. for the amount of 33,465. The water department will most likely put off the installation until the Spring.
The city has received a check for hail damage that had to be added to the budget. A motion passed allowing the budget revision. Also, 4,400 dollars will be going to the police department to fix the vehicle given to Paden City from the county commissioners.
A motion passed accepting the resignation of Tammy Parsons due to health reasons. The city would like to wish Tammy the best of luck.
There will be a special council meeting on Wednesday, October 18 to discuss other items that were not addressed at this particular meeting. The meeting will be held at 7:00 at the city building in Paden City.
