BOE Tours SES Upgrades

SES Principal Krista DeVaughn gave the Tyler County Board of Education a tour of the new improvements in the SES building at the Oct. 2 meeting. Some of the improvements included new tile and hand washers in the the bathroom, the carpet in the library, DeVaughn’s office and the music room was replaced during the summer and redid the sidewalk and extended it through the gravel. DeVaughn also showed the board the school’s mobile iPad charging carts.

The board reviewed the following Tyler County policy with no changes: CE Tyler County Schools Organizational Chart, GF Drug-Free Workplace, GJ Personnel Records, GN Legal Leave, GT Employee Contracts and GAJ Seniority Rights of Substitute Teachers.

Tyler County Policey EL Food Service Billing and Collection is out for a two week comment.

The Tyler Consolidated High School 2017-2018 Baseball Schedule was approved.

The board approved the following requests:

Wendy Carpenter request that she and the following employees be permitted to transport Tyler Middle School Volleyball team to Robert C. Byrd.

The employees are Amanda Easley, Tara Templeton,and Edie Dennis.

Matt Jenning requested bus transportation and Matt Wright requested to use the parking lot at Boreman for the Harvest Festival Car Show.

Amanda Kimble requests permission to for eligible fourth and fifth grade Sistersville Elementary students to travel to Arthur I Boreman Elementary School on Dec.7 to participate in the Math Field Day event with a bus for transportation.

Ashley Moore requested permission for Middle School TSA students to attend the TSA Spring Conference at Cedar Lakes on March 22 through March 24. She is also requested chaperone leave for herself on those days.

The TSA club will pay for all expenses for this trip. They plan to share two buses with the high school TSA students. A bus request will be submitted at a later date.

Krista DeVaugn requested permission to take the Sistersville Elementary School student body to the Harvest Festival on Oct. 6. Bus transportation was also requested.

Tina Mason and Bradford Stoner requested permission for their children, Lilly and Walker Stoner to be released from Tyler County Schools to attend Doddridge County schools for the 2017-2018 school year.

Mary and Don Bordenkircher requested permission for their children Liam, Garrett, Camden and Wesley to be released from Tyler County Schools to attend Paden City Elementary School for the 2017-2018.

Bryce Negie requested that ArtsLink be permitted to use the Tyler Consolidated auditorium for the purpose of presenting a concert on Oct. 7 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The organization will be responsible for clean-up

Jessica Kibbey requested permission for her children Julianna, Jackson and Elaina to take a leave of educaitonal value from Oct. 13-20. They will be traveling to Mexico, Belize and Honduras.

The following employment transfers and resignations were approved:

Jacob Myer resigned from TCMS Boys Basketball coach. He was hired to be the TCHS Boys Track Coach.

Employ Mariah Ennis as Preschool with Preschool Special Needs and Autism Teacher at Sistersville Elementary effective immediately.

Transfer Tara Mason from SES as an instructional aide to BES as an instructional aid.

PJ Wells made a motion to enter into executive session to discuss personnel.

In other business:

The board approved the minutes of the Sept. 18 meeting and authorized payment of bills.

The next meeting will be held on Oct. 16 at 7:30 pm at the Tyler County Board of Education Office located on Dodd Street in Middlebourne.
