Judge David W. Hummel Holds Court in Tyler County

Steven Michael Chaplin, 52, of Friendly, WV failed to appear in Circuit Court for a scheduled appearance on Monday, June 26, to answer charges handed down by the Tyler County Grand Jury. Chaplin was charged with four misdemeanor offenses and one felony offense. Judge Hummel issued a capias warrant for his arrest.

Chaplin is charged with Count One, Domestic Battery a misdemeanor, Count Two Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance a misdemeanor, Count Three Fourth Degree Arson a felony, Count Four Domestic Battery a misdemeanor, and Count Five Violation of a Protective Order a misdemeanor.

David Gene Wade, 50, of 855 Market Street, Clarington, Ohio appeared in court on Monday and entered a not guilty plea to a three count indictment charging him with Sexual Assault in the first degree, Sexual Abuse in the first degree and Incest. All three offenses are alleged to have occurred in Tyler County during 2006 against a child under the age of 11 years old.

Wade will return to court on August 17 for a pre-trial hearing.

Amanda R. Rice, 33, of HC 60 Box 19, New Martinsville, WV, appeared in court before the Honorable Judge Hummell on Monday to face charges handed down by the June term of the Tyler County grand jury. Rice is charged with the felony offense of Delivery of a controlled substance alleged to have occurred on November 15, 2016. Delivery of a controlled Substance a felony having alleged to occur on November 21, 2016 and the misdemeanor offense of possession of a controlled substance alleged to have ocurred on February 23, 2017.

Rice pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered to return to courton August 17 for a pre-trial hearing and a trial date of September 25, was set by Judge Hummel.

Terry Harris,33, of 609 Main Street, Sistersville, WV, appeared before Judge Hummel in Tyler County Circuit Court on Monday June 26 and pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of Delivery of a controlled substance, as handed down by the June, 2017 Tyler County grand jury.

Hummel ordered Harris to return to court for a pre-trial hearing on August 17, and a trial date of September 27, was scheduled.

Keenan Spencer Slampack, 28, of 800 Fifth Street, New Martinsville and Erin Nichole McCracken, 23, of 34431 River Street, Sardis, Ohio, co-defendants were both in court on Monday to face charges handed down by the June term of the Tyler County Grand Jury. Count one charges them with the felony offense of Conspiracy to commit an offense against the state. Count Two the felony offense of Burglary and Count three the felony offense of Grand Larceny.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges which are alleged to have occurred on March 11, 2017, in Tyler County. They were ordered to return to court on August 17, for a pre-trial hearing and a trial date of September 17, has been set by Judge Hummel.

Mykal Lawrence Johnson, 28, of 305 East Main Street, Paden City, charged by the Tyler County Grand Jury with the felony offense of Grand Larceny alleged to have occurred on February 6, 2017 failed to appear in court as sscheduled on Monday June 26. Judge Hummel issued a capias warrant for his arrest.
