Wildcats Return To Prowling Grounds
Paden City Alumni festivities will be held June 29 to July 1.
The weekend begins Thursday, June 29 at 6:30 p.m. with Patriotic Music outside of the Christian Church on East Main Street. Chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own. Following the music, a Memorial Service will be held at 7:15 p.m. in the Christian Church’s sanctuary. During this time, names of alumni who have passed will be read. Following this event, all are welcome for fellowship and egg rolls at Chen’s Garden, across street from PC High School, at 8 p.m.
Beginning Friday morning, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Paden City Museum will be open for alumni to tour. This museum is located in 108 West Main Street.
Come out and watch players own their athletic skills and enjoy the alumni volleyball and basketball games inside Paden City High School’s gymnasium. Volleyball begins at 5 p.m. and then followed by a basketball game around 6 p.m.
Friday evening is known for class parties and the following are noted at this time:
60th year Class of 1957, June 28, 7p.m., Court Restaurant, New Martinsville
50th year Class of 1967, June 30, 6:30 p.m., Dos Hermanos Mexican Restaurant (Old Yacht Club), New Martinsville
40th year Class of 1977, June 30, Matthew Barker Memorial Complex, Paden City.
Saturday’s alumni activities will “tee off” bright and early with a 7:30 a.m. golf scramble at Sistersville Country Club. Please contact Mike Tallman for more information regarding this event.
Come one and all to the Paden City Volunteer Fire Department to enjoy a wonderful breakfast from 8 a.m. until noon. There will be plenty of food available at the fire hall on West Main Street.
Again the PC Museum will open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on West Main Street.
A new event this year is ALS Awareness Walk, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at PC (Ford) Park walking trail, with sign-ups at 11 a.m. ($5.00 fee and other donations are appreciated), step off around 11:30 a.m., selling hot dogs, water, and free pizza (donated by Domino’s Pizza). Money raised will be divided between Wetzel County ALS Chapter and Paden City October Fest Car Show. Flyers and pamphlets will be available and passed out.
At 1:30 p.m. lineup for the parade will start at the Christian Church, East Main Street, parking lot. The alumni parade begins at 2 p.m. Please bring musical instruments, floats, and class members to join in the fun.
The 65th Annual Alumni Banquet will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 130 South 4th Avenue, in their fellowship hall (elevator provided), beginning with the Distinguished Alumni Award recipient’s reception at 5:30 p.m. Banquet tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the library, or at WesBanco in Paden City. Immediately following the dinner will begin, DAA will be honored, class representatives will speak from each decade class: Ken Stead, Class of 1975; Neil Raper, Class of 1967; Brent Croasmun, Class of 1977; Alexandria Glover, Class of 2017 (Emcee). Speakers are not yet known for Class of 1987, 1997, and 2007.
An alumni meeting will then be conducted.
Alumni Association officials are as follows: Shauna (Williams) Yoho, President (Class of 1975); Keith Van Camp, Vice-President (1974); Vicki (Holmes) Cain, Treasurer (1975); and Pam (Underwood) Witschey, Secretary (Class of 1964).
All alumni are encouraged to attend these events to show their support for Paden City High School, open now and here forever.
