General Election Set For March 24
SISTERSVILLE – The city will be holding its municipal general election March 24.
Four candidates for city council and one candidate for mayor will be on the ballot.
City council candidates are Bob Gilmore, First Ward; Greg Gage, Second Ward; Alex King, Third Ward; and Brandon Chadock, Fourth Ward.
Mayor Bill Rice is running for re-election.
Early voting began March 11 and ends Monday, March 21. City Hall, located on Diamond Street, will be open for early voting for folks who wants to cast their ballots in person during normal business hours this week and 9 and 5 p.m. Saturday and Monday, March 21.
City Recorder Chad Edwards said early voting ballots will not be counted until after the polls close March 24.
The polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. March 24 at these locations: First Ward at the Sistersville Volunteer Fire Hall on Maple Lane; Second Ward at the Church of Christ on Oxford Street; Third Ward at City Hall; and Fourth Ward at the Methodist Church on Main Street.
“Voting is your right and duty as an American,” said Edwards, who will be overseeing the election. “There are people dying for the right to vote in other countries, so don’t take it for granted. Please get out and vote in the Sistersville municipal election.”
