Tyler County Sheriff Bob Kendle Jr. confirmed Wednesday that a Tyler County man has been reported missing.
Kendle said William Neff, 68, of Elk Fork Road near Kidwell, was last seen around 3 p.m. Tuesday near Lonetree outside Middlebourne.
Kendle said a search began shortly after Neff was reported missing to the sheriff’s department around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
“We are actively searching for him,” he said.
Kendle said deputies have been assisted by state police, who provided a helicopter, as well as the Tyler County Office of Emergency Management, Middlebourne EMS, and volunteer fire departments from Middlebourne, Sistersville, Shirley and Alma.
Kendle said Neff is reported to be sick and did not go to an appointment he had scheduled Wednesday at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Clarksburg.
Temperatures Wednesday ranged from low 40s to the mid 60s.
