Man Charged With Child Abuse, Assault
A Sisterville man charged with felony child abuse was granted more time to prepare his case last week in Circuit Court.
Christopher Dodrill, 25, of Sistersville, is charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury to a child under the age of 18 and malicious assault after an incident alleged to have occurred on Nov. 3 in Tyler County.
According to court documents, Dodrill was watching the infant when the child sustained an injury that required medical treatment at Sistersville General Hospital and later at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Police said the girl had injuries indicative of being shaken or blunt force trauma.
Codrill told investigators that the girl fell off the couch and landed on her head, according to court documents.
Last week in Circuit Court, Dodrill’s defense attorney, Public Defender John Gainer of Moundsville, was granted more time to gather the records needed for the case, which will move forward later this fall, said Tyler County Prosecutor D. Luke Furbee.
In other court news, Clifford Jackson Jr., 54, of Sistersville was granted an order of parole that will be administered under the supervision of the Tyler County Probation Office. Furbee said the order for 18 months parole was pursuant to Jackson’s plea agreement arising from his conviction for delivery of a controlled substance from an incident that occurred March 2014 in Tyler County. Jackson was sentenced in October 2014 to 1-5 years – serving 30 days in jail – and the past year on home confinement, according to court documents.
