P.J. Wells Trucking Victim Of Robbery
Sometime between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, someone entered two trucks owned by P.J. Wells trucking of Sistersville, and removed a CB radio and other communication equipment.
According to Wells, who lives on Virginia Terrace and parks his trucks, trailers, and other equipment on his property, heard some noise around 2 a.m. but didn’t pay attention to it.
“We live right here near Rt. 18 and there is a lot of traffic and always people coming and going. You can’t jump up every time you hear something or you would never get any sleep,” said Wells.
Well,s who works as a hauler in the logging business, was set to take off early Tuesday morning to pick up and deliver a load, when he noticed his radio had been tampered with and the CB was missing. He then went to his other truck and discovered they had tried to remove the CB in it but it was more difficult and they weren’t successful. They did, however, remove the microphones. Wells said he doesn’t believe anything else was missing and the total loss of property was probably less than $1,000.
After making the discovery, he immediately notified the State Police and Tyler County Sheriff’s Department.
“I had to miss a couple days work because of it and when you count it all up it is a substantial amount of money,” Wells said.
The incident is under investigation by the sheriff’s department.
Wells ask that if anyone knows anything about the incident to notify the Tyler County Sheriff.
