BOE Approves Requests

Tyler County Board of Education Superintendent Robin Daquilante reported at the Monday, July 20 meeting, that the parking lots have been finished and parking lines have been marked. She also reported all the holes had been fixed in the roads at the school.

A request from Transportation director, Troy Smith, was approved to declare the following vehicles surplus: Bus 17 (1998 Int. Blue Bird 71 Passenger), Bus 19 (1996 Int. Blue Bird 77 Passenger), Bus 22, (1996 Int. Blue Bird 77 Passenger), Bus 38 (2002 Int. Am 83 Passenger), Bus 40 (2000 Int. Thomas 77 Passenger), and Bus 25 (1996 Int. Blue Bird 77 Passenger).

The Board also approved a bid extension with Pepsi Bottling Company for the 2015-16 school year.

Approval was also given for the adoption of the Tyler County GAT Safety policy.

Linda Duncan request was approved for her daughter, Jahnvi Duncan, to cross county lines in order to continue attending Tyler County Schools for the 2015-16 school year, pending approval from the Wetzel County Board of Education.

Tammy Barker, was approved for her children, Hannah Barker, Brianna Barker and Nicholas Barker, to be released from Tyler County Schools for the 2015-16 school year, pending approval from Pleasants County Board of Education.

Amanda Anderson, was approved for her daughter, Isabella Anderson, to be released from Tyler County Schools for the 2015-16 school year, pending approval from Wetzel County Board of Education.

Bernadette Hood, was approved to allow her children, Victoria Hood, Elijah Hood and Noah Hood, to cross county lines in order to continue attending Tyler County Schools for the 2015-16 school year, pending approval from Wetzel County Board of Education.

Michelle Van Scyoc, was approved for her son, Okey Lee Redman, to be released from Tyler County Schools for the 2015-16 school year, pending approval from Ritchie County Board of Education.

Melinda Walton, Special Education Director, was approved to destroy special education records which by law no longer need to be maintained, according to Policy 4350.

The board approved the following resignations;

– Jason Roberts, Assistant football coach, at Tyler Consolidated middle school effective immediately.

– Margie Shepherd, substitute aide, countywide, effective immediately

– Christina Hamrick, substitute teacher, countywide, effective immediately.

The following employments and transfers were approved:

– Jake Roberts transferred from Bus #10 to Bus #4, effective immediately

– Joann Seckman, transferred to first grade teacher at A.I. Boreman Elementary School, effective immediately.

– Vanessa Matthews, employed as first grade teacher at Sistersville Elementary School, returning to duty from preferred recall.

– Shirley Goodfellow and Tonya Wable, transferred from their current positions to positions as early childhood classroom assistant teachers (ECCAT I) at Sistersville elementary school, pending achievement of a temporary authorization and clear CIB results.

– Stephanie Higgins, transferred to a position as early childhood classroom assistant teacher 1 (ECCAT I) at A.I. Boreman Elementary School pending acquisition of a temporary authorization and clear CIB results.

– Barb Sokes, transferred from cook 11 and cafeteria manager at A.I.Boreman elementary school to cook 11 at Tyler Consolidated middle and high school, effective immediately.

– Stephanie Brown, employed as speech/language pathologist countywide with initial placement at A.I. Boreman Elementary School.

– Christy Jones, employed as assistant volleyball coach at Tyler Consolidated middle school, effective immediately

– Approved to employ up to 10 summer painters for an additional contract term of seven days beginning July 23, 2015 and ending July 31, 2015. Employed were Stephen Eastman, Lisa George, Martin Parrish, Timothy Patterson, Jake Roberts, Melissa Snyder, Stacy Wade and Charles Young.

– Barb Amos, as a substitute teacher, countywide, effective immediately.

– Janice Miller,as a substitute teacher, countywide, effective immediately.

– Rosanna Haught, as a substitute teacher, countywide, effective immediately.

– Casey Miner, as an agricultural education teacher at Tyler Consolidated high school, pending her release from Harrison County Schools. Ms. Miner will be awarded a 240 day contract.

The next regular meeting of the Board will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 at 7 p.m. at the Tyler County Board of Education office located on Dodd Street in Middlebourne.
