BOE Approves Employments, Transfers
At the July 6, 2015 board of education meeting, Transportation Director of Tyler County Schools, Troy Smith, explained to the board how he coordinates with the oil and gas companies so that their trucks are not on the road during times that school buses are running their routes.
It has been brought up that some companies use subcontractors and it has been a problem working with them to be off the routes during hours that school buses are running. Smith is working with the companies to make sure all are working together to insure the safety of Tyler County students and bus operators. It was also mentioned at an earlier meeting that many of the routes have not been mowed by the Department of Highway and it is difficult to see around turns and intersections.
Board members on Monday approved the final supplements and transfers of funds for the 2014-2015 school year: A supplement from fund 61 in the amount of $321,536 and a transfer from fund 11 in the amount of $336,271 were both unanimously approved.
The resignation of Preston Ferrell as bus operator, effective immediately was approved.
The board also approved the employment of Anita Prunty, as a substitute teacher, countywide, Christy Jones, as math teacher at Tyler Consolidated Middle School, and Greg Goodfellow, as half-time radio broadcast instructor and WRSG station manager at Tyler Consolidated High School, all effective immediately.
The board approved the minutes of the June 29, meeting and authorized the payment of bills.
