Picnic in the Park Set For July 5 in Sistersville

The 19th annual Picnic in the Park will be held in Sistersville on July 5, featuring free cake and ice cream, donated by the Sistersville IGA. $1 swimming will be held at the pool along with live music, entertainment and a huge fireworks display.

Plans for this year, which will start at noon and go until after the fireworks at 9:30 p.m., includes opening ceremony at 1:30 p.m. with the flag raising by VFW Post #8327, Gospel Concert by the Carriers at 2 p.m. under the big shelter. The Deja Vu Band performing the classic sounds from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s will be performing on the stage from 7-8 p.m. and again from 8:30-9:30 p.m.

Food, crafts and other vendors will operate in the park all day. For the kids, there will be games and the rock climbing wall. Concessions will be available. At 9:30 the Zambelli’s giant fireworks display will get underway. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the festivities.

The event is sponsored by the Sistersville Community Service Organization. They are still accepting donations to pay for the fireworks. The total cost needed is $7,950. Contributions to the fund can be sent to the SCSO Fireworks Fund at P.O. Box 46, Sistersville W.Va. 26175, or can be made at the Tyler Star News Office located at 727 Wells St. in Sistersville.
