By Staff | May 21, 2015

The winner of the Friendly Lions Club Scholarship was selected at the Lions club meeting on May 12. The winner will be announced during the Lions club banquet held on May 18 at the Tyler Consolidated High School at 8 p.m.

It was also announced that the Friendly Lions Club will be hosting bingo at Paws in the Park on Memorial May weekend. The bingo will be held from 10 a.m. until noon and then will resume at 3 p.m. and last until 6 p.m.

The 2015-16 district 29 Lions officer training will be held at WVNCC in New Martinsville on May 26. All Club Secretaries, treasurers, presidents and membership chairs have been encouraged to attend.

The need for a flag pole was also discussed. They had found a previously used flag pole, but due to weathering and age, they are unable to use it. Alex King had mentioned the possibility of a donation from the Sistersville Park since the park has two flag poles. However, it was discovered they needed to investigate the possibility of the flag pole being donated. If the flag pole had been donated to the Sistersville Park, it is required that the pole stay in the park.

A blood drive, hosted by the Lions Club, will be held at the Middlebourne Fire Hall on Aug. 25.
