National Day of Prayer set
The Paden City Ministerial Association will be hosting a National Day of Prayer event on Thursday, May 7. The service will take place at the Paden City Park, overlooking the Ohio River, starting at 7:00PM. The service will consist of prayer for our local and national government, the military, media, business, education, church & family. Singing & special music will also be a highlight of the service.
According to the National Day of Prayer Task Force, “The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The National Day of Prayer Task Force exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families.”
The theme for 2015 is Lord, Hear Our Cry, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men. The Scripture verse that highlights this theme is I Kings 8:28: “Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.”
Also holding National Day of Prayer events are Sistersville at the Sistersville City Park at Noon along with Tyler county at the Tyler County Courthouse steps at noon.
