Flag is donated
The Color Guard of the Sistersville Veterans of Foreign Wars stand with a special flag which was donated to the Guard in memory of Chief Master Sergeant Norman E. Peter who passed away on Dec. 1, 2013. Peter served in the United States Air Force for 30 years retiring to Wilbur, W .Va. He had served in the 2nd Airborne Command and Control Squadron in the Offutt Air Force Base, 3rd Airborne Command and Control Squadron on the Grissom Air Force Base in Indiana. He was also a member of the Blue Scarf; in the 341st supply squadron; the 9th supply squadron; 72nd supply squadron; 5900th maintenance squadron; 97th supply squadron; and the 55th strategic reconnaissance wing and was stationed in Vietnam, Trinidad and England.
After his retirement, he became a farmer then later a paramedic with the Middlebourne and Alma EMS long with the Tri-State Ambulance in Wheeling and Moundsville. He was also an active Deacon and Reader in the local catholic churches. Norman and Donna, His wife of 56 years, had seven children, 12 grandchildren and nine Great-grandchildren. Peter was a recipient of the Bronze Star and a member of the VFW Post 6327 and the American Legion Post 67.
