WVU Professional and Continuing education offers classes to adults

West Virginia University Professional and Continuing Education is offering adults the opportunity to pursue their personal and professional development interests this winter/spring with a selection of over 300 courses and a variety of subject matters.

“Principles of Coaching for Special Olympics” is for coaches who already have their Special Olympics entry-level certification, or for individuals who already have a coaching background at a high school or college level.

The course gives coaches the tools and skills needed to help their Special Olympics athletes perform at the greatest level possible. It is an online, self-paced course and registrations are open year round.

Individuals with a passion and interest in writing will have the chance to come together with other writers this spring. The “Creative Writing Workshop” course allows writers to share their works and receive constructive feedback on their pieces. Workshops will take place in Morgantown on Monday evenings starting on March 16 and running through April 6.

“Mastering Public Speaking” is an online course designed for those interested in building upon their presentation skills for use in their personal life or career.

Students will learn techniques and tips for communicating confidently and effectively whether it is speaking to a small or large group of people.

The “Discover Sign Language” course is a new course offering. Students will be introduced to the language and learn how to create signs so that he or she will be able to have conversations through signing. The course is taught online and videos will be provided as part of the course to help participants create the signs.

Courses such as “A to Z Grant Writing”, “Writing Effective Grant Proposals”, “Advanced Grant Proposal Writing”, and “Get Grants!” provides tips and information for individuals wanting to start a career in grant writing or wanting to find ways to get more funding for their business/organization. These courses are offered online.
