A Middlebourne woman was seriously injured in a fatal crash on U.S. Route 50 in Wood County Monday.

On Monday, Trooper S. S. Michael, of the Parkersburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, discovered, near the 11.0 mile marker, a Chevrolet Cavalier in the eastbound lane which appeared to have rolled several times, causing both occupants to be ejected.

Through the course of his investigation, Trooper Michael determined that the vehicle had originally been traveling westbound before losing control. Angel Lockhart, 40 years of age, from New Martinsville, died at Camden Clark Hospital as a result of her injuries.

Chrystal Knighten, 21 years of age, from Middlebourne, was transported to Camden Clark Hospital and then transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The investigation into this crash continues as the cause of the crash and which occupant was driving still needs to be determined.
