Tyler Board of Ed approves requests

The Tyler County Board of Education approved many requests and employment matters at their meeting Monday night.

Trip requests approved: Bryce Negie, choir director, given permission to take choir students to the following events: Marshall University Festival Chorus Oct. 31 through Nov. 1, with chaperones Jennifer Smith, Erica Bonar, Jennifer Negie, and Clara Glover; Perform at the New Martinsville and Sistersville Genesis Nursing Homes on Dec. 16; and to perform the National Anthem at the Wheeling Nailers Hockey game on Feb. 6, 2015.

Other requests approved: Jesse and Sheri Jackson for their daughter, Tiffany Jackson, be permitted to cross county lines in order to continue attending Tyler County Schools for the 2014-15 school year, pending approval from Wetzel County Board of Education.

Roger Smith, TCMS Volleyball Coach, approved for himself, Katie Klages, Krista DeVaughn, Suzette Miller, and Melinda Walton to transport team members to Robert C. Byrd High School on Sept. 27 and to Pleasants County on Oct. 25.

Personnel requests: Wayne Smith, band director, was approved for professional leave to attend the following events: Band Director Workshop in Morgantown on Nov. 10; International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago Dec. 17-19; and the WV Music Educators Conference in Charleston March 12-13.

Employments or transfers: The board approved the employment of additional substitute instructional aides to be assigned as needed county wide, effective Oct. 7. Individuals recommended for employment pending clear CIB results are: Kay Duff, Joya Gerhart, Natasha Morris, Jennifer Negie, Vanessa Owens, and Anne Potts.

The board approved the employment of substitute cooks to be assigned as needed county wide effective Oct. 7. Individuals recommended for employment pending clear CIB results are: Erin Cooper, Heady Housel, and Crystal Price.

The board approved the transfer of Bessie Billings from substitute custodian, county wide, to substitute cook, county wide, effective Oct. 7.

The board approved the employment of Melissa Snyder to fill a temporary position as bus operator for special needs bus route number four, effective Oct. 7, resulting from an approved leave of absence per WV Code 18A-4-15.

The board approved the minutes from the Sept. 29 regular meeting and the Sept. 30 special meeting. They also allowed and authorized the payment of bills.
