Picnic in the Park Planned

The 18th annual Picnic in the Park will be held in Sistersville on July 6 featuring free cake and ice cream, $1 swimming at the pool, live music, entertainment and a huge fireworks display.
Plans for this years big event, which will begin at noon and go until after the fireworks at 9:30 p.m. include: opening ceremonies at 1:30 p.m. with the VFW Post #6327 performing the flag raising and Bryanna Munoz singing the National Anthem; the “Friendly Voices” performing at the shelter at 2 p.m.; $1 swimming at the pool; and the Dejavu Band performing on the stage from 7-8 p.m. and again from 8:30-9:30 p.m.
Food, craft and other vendors will operate in the park all day along with Greg Holden’s “Rock Wall” for the kids and the concession stand operated by volunteers.
The Sistersville Community Service Organization is still accepting donations to pay for the fireworks display. The total cost needed for the grand fireworks display is $7,950. Contributions to the fund drive can be sent to the SCSO Fireworks Fund at P.O. Box 46, Sistersville, WV 26175, or can be made at the Tyler Star News Office located at 727 Wells St. in Sistersville.
