Momentive Performance Materials, Sistersville, has made a $7,500 contribution to the Sistersville Park and Pool Board. The contribution was made upon the recommendation of Momentive’s local Community Advisory Panel (CAP) and with Momentive management’s support.

Eric Peters, Executive Director of the Tyler County Development Authority and a member of the CAP, presented the $7,500 check on behalf of the CAP and Momentive, to Park and Pool Board co-chairs, Audist Pancake and Barbara Vincent.

“We were aware that the Sistersville pool would not be allowed to operate this season unless the facilities were brought up to ADA accessibility standards. When discussing what local projects should be considered by Momentive for community improvement efforts, the Community Advisory Panel recommended assistance to the Sistersville Park and Pool,” Peters explained.

The Momentive Community Advisory Panel consists of representatives of local government, school systems, fire departments and EMS, as well as other community organizations within Tyler and Pleasants counties.

“Credit should be given to Momentive for their policy of putting both financial and human resources to work to assist in the improvement of our local communities,” Peters said. “This recent contribution is only the latest example. My relationship with Momentive while serving as county development director has shown me that they are a good corporate citizen. They take an interest in their communities and show it through actions such as this.”

The Momentive contribution was made to assist with the costs of bringing the Sistersville City Park Pool into required compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Park and Pool Board purchased two lift chairs to bring the pool into compliance sufficient to allow the pool to legally operate this season. The contributed funds are also available for additional ADA required improvements.

“It should be noted that in order to allow the city pool to open on time this year, the Sistersville City Planning Commission was willing to cover the cost of the lift chairs and their installation in advance of receiving the Momentive contribution. It is my understanding that part of this contribution will be used to reimburse the City Planning Commission, so they can continue to pursue their own projects,” Peters explained.
