Sistersville City Pool announces opening

By Staff | May 21, 2014

To kids, summertime is signified in Sistersville when the City Pool opens. That day is drawing nigh, as the Sistersville Park and Pool committee announced opening day for the City Pool will be May 24. Under new management this year, Audist Pancake will be the overseer at the pool.

“We’re excited for a great year this year,” Pancake said. “We’ve been working almost non-stop to get things ready for the summer and we hope people come out and enjoy the park and pool.”

As an added incentive to get residents to come out, the Planning Commission is sponsoring the first 100 admissions into the pool on the day of the opening. The first one hundred individuals will get in free.

General operating hours for the pool this summer will be: Monday Saturday, 12:30 6:30 p.m. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, adult swimming only from 7 9 p.m.

Daily admission will be $3 per person (with free admittance to the baby pool for children ages five and under). Pool passes will be available at the following prices: 10 day daily pass – $25; 20 day daily pass – $50; and a 30 day pass, $75.

Those purchasing passes are reminded that the passes must be presented every time in order to be used for admittance to the pool every day. The passes will be punched on a daily basis.

For example, if you have two children going to the pool, your card will be punched twice.

Pool parties are priced at $200 from 7-9 p.m. and can be booked by contacting the Sistersville City Building during business hours at 304-652-6361.

Shelter bookings can also be made by contacting the City Building: Pancake Shelter (the large shelter) is $80; the Ash Shelter (small shelter near the river) is $50.

Also on May 24, the Park and Pool Commission will be selling tote-bags and pool passes in front of the Reliable Supply on Wells Street during the Alumni parade. Donations will also be accepted at this time.

“We encourage everyone to come and enjoy our City Park and Pool this year,” Pancake said. “We love to see smiles and hear lots of laughter. Our motto is: We believe in our community.

Anyone with questions or concerns can call the pool from 12:30 6:30 p.m. at 652-1578.
