A gas leak discovered in the building housing the Tyler County Prosecutor’s Office and Magistrates’ Court has caused a temporary relocation of the offices in Middlebourne.

A crew from Mountaineer Gas discovered a gas leak in the building, owned by the Tyler County Commission, early last week and immediately called for the building to be closed until the situation could be investigated further.

Tyler County Prosecuting Attorney Luke Furbee said his office has been temporarily moved to, and will operate from, the judge’s chambers at the Tyler County Courthouse, second floor. The Magistrates Office will continue to operate out of the Magistrate Office building, albeit downstairs and on a limited basis with restricted hours and using electric heaters to heat the area.

Furbee said Mountaineer Gas is working on solving the problem and his office will operate as usual, except from the judge’s chambers.
