Tyler County to hold annual Christmas Parades

The communities of Sistersville and Middlebourne each have planned exciting events for the coming holiday season with Christmas parades to be held in each town.

On Dec. 6 the Sistersville Community Service Organization will sponsor the annual Sistersville Christmas Parade with the theme, “A Christmas Wish List” at 7 p.m. Units planning on participating in the parade will line-up near the Ferry Landing at 6:30 p.m.

Cash awards will be presented to the four top parade entries. Fifty dollars will be awarded to the first place float with second through fourth receiving $25 each.

Judy Light, sports columnist for the Tyler Star News, has been selected to be the Parade Marshall this year.

Santa will be at the Gas Light Theater immediately following the parade to visit with children. Businesses in Sistersville are encouraged to participate by holding raffles, drawings or special offers during the week.

The Middlebourne Christmas parade will be held on Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. The theme for the parade this year will be “A Wild and Wonderful West Virginia Christmas”.

Santa Claus will be at the fire hall after the parade to greet children and the first 150 children will received a treat bag from Santa.

Bernice Thomas has been chosen to be the Parade Marshall for the parade this year in tribute to the many hours she has dedicated to community service in the town.
