SHS Alumni Ready To Celebrate Memories
Alumni Weekend 2013 is finally here! Be sure and check out the Sistersville High School supplement in this week’s Tyler Star News. Please thank and support the local businesses that provided ads for the alumni association; without their support, the supplement could not be provided. President Bobby Wells, along with his officers, Craig Grimm, 1st Vice-President, and Joe Heintzman, 2nd Vice-President, with the assistance of the Board of Directors, have everything ready for a great weekend full of memories of SHS.
The event line-up includes Chapel on Friday at 9 a.m. at the gym, followed by the President’s Luncheon in the Elks Ballroom and Golf Tourney at the Sistersville Country Club, both scheduled for noon. Saturday events include the annual parade at 1 p.m., the Banquet with keynote speaker Alan Robinson at 5:30 p.m. in the Elks Ballroom, followed by the dance from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. with the band Sugar Buzz. Don’t forget to check out all the Tiger memorabilia at the Oil Derrick Museum (former Gaslight Theatre) all this week. A special thank you to Terry Willey, owner and curator, for the use of his museum for our weekend festivities. Also check out the Wells Inn for information about their annual Alumni Midnight Breakfast Buffets.
Brig. General Timothy Barrick of the Class of 1964 will be honored on Thursday, May 23, with the dedication of the bridge at the south end of Sistersville beginning at 4:30 p.m. A celebration in his memory will be held at the bridge site dedication with a reception following at The Wells Inn. Brig. General Barrick is a member of the Sistersville High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame and was keynote banquet speaker in 2002.
