Happy Mother’s Day mom, “You make me proud”

By Staff | May 8, 2013

Logann Long -- "You're the best mom out there, and I'm so lucky that you're mine. Thanks for everything! Hope you have a great Mother's Day! You deserve it! I love you!

Mothers worldwide are proud of their children, they have every reason to be. They are proud of their achievements and accomplishments, their home runs, musical talents, art projects, good deeds, and good grades. They are proud of them for mowing the grass, cleaning their rooms, and everything in between. Moms have many occasions to show their pride for their offspring, which they do at every opportunity, but it’s not often their children get the same chance.

With Mother’s Day and high school graduation right around the corner, mothers and their offspring alike are feeling even stronger, the ties that bind. Seniors at Tyler Consolidated and Paden City high schools took the time to share a Mother’s Day message and the pride they have in their own moms.

“I am proud of my mother because she is an amazing person,” said Shay Yonaley about her mother, Julie.

“She cares about me and helps me through everything.”

“She works hard to give me a good life and supports me in all of my activities.”

Shay Yonaley -- "Mom, Thank you for being my best friend. I am thankful that you are in my life. I love you. Happy Mother's Day.

Speaking of her mother Aileen and all that she does, Cortney Daughtery said, “I am proud of my mom because she is a hard worker.”

“I’m proud of my mom because she tackles a lot of things at once,” Deidra Boor said of mom Debbie.

“If she wasn’t around, things would not go as smoothly as they do around here.”

“I’m proud to say that she is my mother and I love her so much!”

Koty Martin appreciates his mom, Marchel’s, patience by saying, “I’m proud of my mom for always putting her children first and putting up with me for 18 years.”

Lynah Stanley -- "Mom, thanks for being there for me for 18 years. Even though we have been through our ups and our downs, I can always count on you for anything I need! I am going to miss you next year when I move out on my own to college, but don't worry, I will still be back on some weekends to spend time with you. I love you mom and Happy Mother's Day. Also, thank you for being there for me for 18 years of my life so far and I am sure you will be there for many more years."

Lynah Stanley has paid attention to the extra work her mother Sherry has put in for her family through the years, saying, “I am very proud of my mom because she has survived as a single mother and she puts up with my sister, my brother, and I.”

“Also I am very proud of her because even when she gets down about things, she always has a smile on her face.”

Scott Sole said no matter what, his mother Brenda is always there for him. “She supports me in anything I do, she always has. I’m very proud of her.”

“My mom is my best friend,” said a very proud Logann Long of her mother, Cassie.

“She is always there for me. She is very hard working and a great mother to me.”

Devon Thompson -- "Thank you for putting up with "teenager attitude" and raising me to be the young man I am today. And even though sometimes you may embarrass me or worse I embarrass you, I still love you more than anything.”

“I’m very proud of my mom for always being there to support me in my numerous organizations and always keeping our family organized,” Devon Thompson said of his busy mother, Freda.

“She always works hard on any task that comes her way.”

So moms take heart. Your efforts have not been in vain. Your children do notice, they have been paying attention, and your words of wisdom and warning have got through. Your offspring are a testament to the fact — you really are something to be proud of.

Cortney Daugherty -- "Thank you for always believing in me and always supporting me in everything I do. You are an amazing mom and I don't know what I would do without you."
