Davis conducts a budget workshop for Tyler Board
Jeff Davis, financial manager and treasurer for Tyler County Schools, conducted a budget workshop for the Tyler County Board of Education meeting on April 22 at 7 p.m.
Davis presented a breakdown of the projected budget for the 2013/2014 school year.
In addition, he informed the board of the upcoming budget timeline. On May 30, the Projected State Aid Computations will be released.
The Preliminary Budget Meeting will be held on May 6 and the budget will be released to the public on May 7. It will be published in the May 8 issue of the Tyler Star News in the legal section. On May 20, a public hearing will be held for the board’s approval. After receiving approval from the board, the budget will then be submitted to the state for approval.
Amanda Kimble, director of support services, presented a yearly report to the board regarding the free lunch program and additional nutritional programs for the 2012/2013 school year.
In other matters, personnel requests were approved for Tricia Feldmeier, AIB principal, to take fifth grade students to attend Farm Safety Day at the Tyler County Fair Grounds on May 10; Pamela Delauder, AIB Teacher, to take the first grade class to visit Oglebay Good Zoo in Wheeling on May 3; and Amanda Kimble, Director of Support Services, to take three TCHS students to attend the W.Va. State Math Field Day competition at West Virginia University in Institute, W.Va., on April 27.
The board approved the 2013-2014 Tyler Consolidated High School Boys’ Basketball schedule and the 2013-2014 school calendar. Also approved were the minutes for the April 16 meeting.
Employments and transfers approved included Bob Jones, Evening Events Coordinator, TCHS/TCMS, effective July 1; and Roy Akers, Stephen Eastham, Herbert Efaw, Jacob Roberts, Joseph Snyder, and Charles Young, Summer Painters, Countywide.
The board approved to rescind the transfer of Lisa Bowen and restore her to her present position as Cook II for TCHS/TCMS.
During the April 16 meeting, the board approved for Linda Duncan, TCMS Guidance Counselor, to take Super Teens Achieving Regional Success to attend the STARS Awards Luncheon on April 18 at the Parkersburg City Park Pavilion.
The Regular and Special Levy rates were approved for the 2014 fiscal year.
Also on April 16, the board accepted resignations and additionally approved employments. Resignations accepted included: Wanda Tennant, Cook II, TCMS/TCHS effective June 5 and Rhonda Burton, Executive Secretary, Receptionist and Switchboard Operator in the Central Office, effective June 30.
Employments approved include Kathy Michael, Secretary II, TCMS, effective July 1; Joe Kester II, Custodian III, TCMS/TCHS, effective July 1; Luke Reynolds, Head Cross Country Coach, TCHS, effective immediately; Brenna Hagerty, Head Cross Country Coach, TCMS, effective immediately; and Ben Thomas, Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach, TCHS, effective immediately.
The next meeting of the Tyler County Board of Education will be held on May 6 at 7:30 p.m.
