Walton hired as TCHS Football Coach
The Tyler County Board of Education approved the employment of Ryan Walton as the Head Varsity Football Coach for Tyler Consolidated High School during the March 18 meeting.
Superintendent Robin Daquilante released the following statement regarding the employment of Walton.
“Mr. Walton served as a member of the coaching staff previously. He was born and raised in Tyler County and he has a vested interest in the success of athletics at Tyler Consolidated. Coach Walton has already met today with those athletes interested in the 2013-14 football program and I know he is anxious to begin. Coach Walton knows all the students because he already works in the building-this is a big plus in my opinion. Ryan has demonstrated a strong work ethic in his position of Assistant Principal and Athletic Director and I’m comfortable that we will get nothing less in his new position,” said Daquilante.
Walton said that he is excited to begin the season, get the kids back into the game and gain community support.
“I just want to bring a sense of pride to the football team. I want the players proud to be a TCHS Football Player. I’m excited. I’ve talked to coaches and I have had a lot of family support. Hopefully, we can gain support from the community. My main goal is to have success. I want to convince the kids that if you work hard, you get good results. I want that instilled into the the team,” said Walton.
Walton also commented that players have been training during the winter. He credits Assistant Coach Robby Jones, Assistant Coach Steven Blake, and Athletic Trainer Gary Hagerty for training players and keeping them motivated for the upcoming season.
