BOE meets
The Tyler County Board of Education met on Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss usual business.
The following trip requests were approved: Choir Director Clara Glover will take eight students to the All State Chorus auditions at Brooke High School on Feb. 12 with bus for transportation; Sistersville Elementary Principal Krista DeVaughn requested permission for the fifth grade students to attend the Annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Day at the Tyler County Fairgrounds on May 10 with bus for transportation; Robert Jones will be transporting three students to Charleston to participate in the 31st Annual West Virginia Youth and Government Seminar from Feb. 25-Feb. 27, and Susan Gilbert will transport six or seven students in her personal vehicle to West Liberty University for a Civics Bowl.
The following employees were requested professional leave to attend the 2013 Regional Math Field Day Competition on March 25 at West Virginia University-Parkersburg: Amy Yeater, Megan Campbell, Judy Thoburn, Debbie Miller, Brenda Matthews, Jill Wagner and Judy Grace.
Mark Doty, Director of WVU Fire Training, was granted permission to use the Tyler Consolidated High School gym, four classrooms, cafeteria and lower parking lot to hold County Fire School Training on April 19, 20 and 21.
In the matter of personnel, the board approved to employ Jennifer Vogel and Lindsay Whaley as substitute teachers which became effective on Feb. 5.
The board approved the minutes of the Jan. 22 meeting.
The next meeting will be on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
