Caldwell resigns as coach
Tyler Consolidated High School will begin the search for a new head football coach following the completion of the season, as the Tyler County Board of Education earlier this month approved the resignation of Head Coach Rob Caldwell effective the end of the 2012 season.
During the Oct. 1 meeting of the board, members unanimously voted to approve Caldwell’s resignation from the position. Caldwell said he is resigning in order to spend more time with his family.
“My daughters are getting older now, participating in sports and other activities, and I’d like to be there more than I am now,” he said. “My oldest is playing fall softball and participating in a basketball league in Wheeling and it keeps us pretty busy. I don’t want to miss out on what they are doing.”
Also during the Oct. 1 meeting, the board unanimously voted to approve the resignation of Chris Amedro has head baseball coach at Tyler Consolidated. The board filled that position during the Oct. 15 meeting, voting to approve Robert Jones III as the new head baseball coach, effective immediately.
The board also honored Beth Rucker during the Oct. 1 meeting, as Rucker was chosen as the 2012 Support Staff of the Year. Rucker works as an instructional aide at the Tyler County Preschool Center.
The next meeting of the Tyler County Board of Education is set for 7 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the board office.
