Paden City ready for Labor Day celebration
The annual Paden City Labor Day Celebration will continue to be a four-day affair, keeping with the extra day format adopted last year.
The event will open with a ceremony at 6 p.m., then at 6:15 p.m. Pete Lauderman will take the stage, followed by Monkey Farm at 8 p.m.
Barbara Lynn And The Silver Eagle Band will kick off Saturday’s entertainment on the Main Street stage at 12:30 p.m.
Also, at 4 p.m. that day The Battle Weary Band will perform mid-19th Century American Civil War Era music.
The regionally popular Davisson Brothers Band will cap Saturday’s entertainment beginning at 8p.m.
A Christian theme is predominant in Sunday’s stage lineup as John Ice kicks things off at 1 p.m.; Shelly Champion at 2 p.m.; and The Branches take the stage at 3:30 p.m. Mike Tallman, Chris Tallman, And Friends will offer their music at 5:30 p.m. and Michael Parsons and Friends will end the night’s lineup beginning at 8 p.m.
Of course the big event on Monday is the parade up state Route 2 at 1 p.m. The line up is at the south end of Paden City, beginning at noon. Anyone wanting to participate or ask questions, can call 304-771-1574 or 304-771-3925.
After the parade The Journeymen will perform at 2 p.m. Regional favorite Days Later will take the stage at 4 p.m.
Perennial favorite Dewayne Spaw will close the weekend’s events beginning at 8 p.m. Spaw has played his country music several times in Paden City, particularly thrilling those along the parade route as he sings his way up state Route 2 from the top of his tour trailer.
More than just entertainment, the Paden City Labor Day Celebration will once again include Thomas Family Amusements with their traditional rides and concessions.
Wristbands may be purchased for unlimited rides or tickets for individual rides can be bought.
There will also be some games by local organizations such as the fish pond, dime pitch, and dunking booth, as well as crafts and Bingo.
The Paden City Volunteer Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary will sponsor fish fries at the fire hall on Sunday, 1-6 p.m., and Monday, 2-6 p.m. The menu includes fish sandwiches, french fries, baked beans, cole slaw, and deserts. For more information, call 304-337-9289.
Also, the PCVFC will sponsor an all-you-can-eat breakfast for $6 at the fire hall Monday from 8 a.m. until noon.
The menu includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, and patties, pancakes, french toast, sausage gravy, biscuits, fruit salad, toast, coffee, milk, chocolate milk, apple juice, and orange juice. For more information, call the fire hall at 304-337-9289.
The PCVFC’s concession trailer will be open
throughout the long weekend serving up their perennial favorites like corn dogs, funnel cakes, and sno cones.
The American Legion Auxiliary, Paden City Unit 86, will have a food booth all weekend.
Their menu is as follows:
Friday: soupbeans and ham, chili, and corn muffins.
Saturday and Monday: homemade noodles and chicken.
Saturday: barbecue pork; every day, hot dogs, nacho and cheese, and desserts.
Various crafters and vendors will be set up in the eastern portion of the PCVFC. Those confirmed to be there are:
