Blood supply hits new low
According the the American Red Cross, blood donations through are at the lowest they have been in 15 years. A public appeal in late June briefly stopped the decline but the effect was temporary and the situation remains tenuous. There continues to be an emergency need for all blood types this summer.
To help fill the need locally, two blood drives have been scheduled:
The first drive will take place from 12:30-6:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 at the Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department.
The second local drive will take place from 1-7 p.m. on Aug. 21 at the Tyler County Fairgrounds (Log Cabin).
With the support of the comunity, the American Red Cross can reverse the decline in donations and ensure an adequate blood supply for patients all summer long.
