Band advances in competition
Four young adults plus one dream, equals Bullet’s Embrace. This talented punk rock band performs with the intention of teaching others to be themselves. . .no matter what.
On Dec. 16, 2010, Bullet’s Embrace was formed by members Brittany Weekley and Jasmine Kyle. Having been bullied for quite some time, the two decided they would like to inspire others to keep being themselves no matter what. What better way to communicate this than through music?
The current members are Weekley, Kyle, Daniel Fiest and Brandon Collins.
On Sunday, July 15, the group of youngsters competed in Gorilla Music’s Battle of the Bands at Rex Theater in Pittsburgh, Pa. In this competition, the top three bands move onto the finals to be announced at a later date. Bullet’s Embrace played their hearts out, performing a half set of original and cover songs to an adoring, cheering, and screaming crowd. At the end of the night, the band had earned a spot in the finals.
The next phase of the competition is geared toward getting the band’s hometown involved. A specific playing time is assigned, based on the number of tickets Bullet’s Embrace sells. The more tickets they sell, the better the time slot. The way the crowd reacts to the band’s performance helps the judges determine the winners.
Tickets are available for purchase at the Sistersville Public Library. The cost is $8 per ticket in advance, or $10 at the door.
There have been many bumps along the road in this band’s journey, but none have kept them down. The band’s first EP titled “The Story Begins” has been on sale since June 1. A music video and album are currently in progress.
There is more to come from this outstanding group of talent.
