Boil order issued as precaution

By Staff | Jul 5, 2012

The Friendly Public Service District, which serves some customers in Wetzel County, has issued a 72-hour boil order based on the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ advisory. It says, “Due to the statewide power outages, any area that had low water pressure, no water service, or cloudy water is being placed on a boil water advisory. The advisory will remain in effect until the water service issues a notice lifting the advisory.”

FPSD Manager Bob Patterson said, “We did not have a line break.” However, the utility did have one of their 10 water tanks go dry, necessitating the order. They are currently refilling the tanks and he is taking a water sample to be tested. Once that is verified as drinkable, hopefully by tomorrow, the order will be lifted.

The affected areas are: Buck Run Road, Whiskey Run Road, Dutch Run Road, Cider Run Road, Paden Fork Road, Gamble Run Road, state Route 180 north of Buck Run Road, and Oil Ridge Road, north of Starkey Lane.

Residents are still urged to conserve water during this time.
