By Staff | May 2, 2012

The Tyler County Board of Education held its regular meeting Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. with all members present.

Board members voted to approve the hiring of Mr. Tab Mathis to the position of principal for Tyler County Middle School. Mr. Mathis is a former principal at Tolsia High School in Wayne County, and came highly recommended for the position.

In other business, the board agreed to set the meeting for secondary head coaches on a Saturday, at a to-be-named date.

Superintendent Robin Daquilante told members that a fire safety inspection at the schools had resulted in only a few minor violations. Both elementary schools received no violations from the inspection. “That’s a great report,” noted board member Ralph “Doc” Boone.
