Jury returns 28 true bills

Tyler County grand jurors returned 28 true bills last week against 11 defendants.

Jessica Seckman was indicted on one count, felony concealment of a child from person entitled to visitation. Her husband, Joseph L. Seckman, was indicted on the same felony charge.

The charges stem from an alleged incident in September, 2011, whereupon the Seckmans reportedly fled the state with two minor children.

The couple was taken into custody in October, 2011, in Flagstaff, Ariz. by Arizona State Police, following a traffic stop. The children were taken into custody of child protective services.

The Seckmans were alleged to be under investigation by Child Protective Services in Tyler County when the couple left the state. Both Jessica and Joseph Seckman were extradited back to Tyler County from Arizona. The children were released to the custody of a family member upon return from Arizona.

Abdul-Kahar A. S. Al-Janaby was indicted on two counts: count one, felony child abuse resulting in injury; and count two, misdemeanor domestic battery. The incidents allegedly occurred June 2, 2011.

Ryen Matthew Archer was indicted on one count, felony delivery of a controlled substance (marijuana). The alleged offense took place on Dec. 21, 2010. Archer is re-indicted on the charge due to failure to comply with the terms of his plea agreement. Under terms of the agreement, Archer was to enlist in the United States armed forces and complete his service with no less than an honorable discharge.

Nocha R. Brewer was indicted on one count, felony malicious assault; one count, misdemeanor domestic battery; and one count, misdemeanor leaving the scene of a crash. The incident allegedly occurred on Dec. 24, 2011.

Robert E. Carpenter was indicted on four felony and one misdemeanor counts: (felony charges) breaking without entering other than a dwelling, conspiracy to commit an offense against the state – 2 counts, and attempted grand larceny; and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance (bath salts).

Brandie R. Forrester was indicted on one count felony daytime burglary; and one count, misdemeanor petit larceny. The offenses allegedly occurred Aug. 1, 2011.

Lionel J. Gore on four felony charges and one misdemeanor charge: (felony charges) entering without breaking a building other than a dwelling, conspiracy to commit an offense against the state (2 counts), and attempted grand larceny; and misdemeanor fleeing from a police officer, one count.

Mitchell Kelly was indicted on one felony count, grand larceny, and one misdemeanor count, entering without breaking, automobile.

Hobart R. Powers was indicted on one count, driving while license is suspended/revoked for driving under the influence. The offense allegedly occurred on Dec. 21, 2011.

Jacob A. Wood was indicted on four felony counts and one misdemeanor count. Felony counts include one count, entering without breaking a building other than a dwelling; two counts, conspiracy to commit an offense against the state; one count, felony attempted grand larceny; and one misdemeanor count,, fleeing from a police officer. The offenses allegedly occurred on Dec. 8, 2011.
