Winter weather returns

Snow fell throughout Tyler County on Monday evening, leaving roadways icy. As a result, students headed back to the classroom after Christmas break two hours behind schedule on Tuesday morning.

Winter weather is will hang around for a few more days, with temperatures remaining near freezing until Thursday when the high is expected to reach 43 degrees. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to rebound by Friday, with a high near 50 degrees.

The extended forecast is as follows:

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Southwest wind between 5 and 15 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. West wind between 6 and 9 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. West wind between 6 and 13 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 49.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37.

Saturday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Saturday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 39.
