Couple detained for concealment

By Staff | Oct 19, 2011

Jessica Seckman and her husband, Joseph, were taken into custody by the Arizona State Police following a traffic stop in Flagstaff this past Friday, Oct. 14, according to Chad Simpson, a U.S. Marshal.

Seckman was wanted for child concealment after she allegedly fled the state with her two children in early September. Mrs. Seckman was reportedly under investigation by W.Va. Child Protective Services for abuse/neglect at the time.

Sarah Howard and her younger brother, Joshua Phillips, were discovered missing after Sarah did not show up for school. The father of the little girl filed a criminal complaint in Tyler County Magistrate Court alleging violation of a visitation agreement and concealment of a child. A second warrant was eventually issued for Joseph Seckman, charging him with aiding/abetting in the matter.

The children were found safe and were taken into the custody of Child Protective Services. Although the West Virginia State Police could neither confirm or deny the report, the children are thought to be en route to family members in West Virginia.

Arizona State Police confirmed the couple had been arrested and booked into the Apache County Jail in St. Johns, Arizona. No additional information was available at press time.
