Pageant contestants sought

The Tyler County Fair Queen’s Pageant will be held on Monday, Aug. 8, on the main stage at the Tyler County Fairgrounds.

The pageant is open to all Tyler County residents who are 16 years of age by Jan. 1, 2012, and not have passed their 22nd birthday by Jan. 1, 2012.

Contestants must purchase a membership ticket to the fair and agree to participate in activities during the week. Rehearsal will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7 at a time to be announced.

The 2011 Tyler County Fair Queen will receive a crown, sash, plaque, and a cash award.

Deadline to enter picture for publication will be Monday, July 26. Miss Tyler County Fair will participate in the WVAFF Queen’s Pageant in January 2012 in Charleston.

The winner of this pageant will reign over the State Fair of WV to be held in August, 2012.

The Jr. Miss Contest will be held on Aug. 8 immediately following the Prince and Princess Contest.

This contest is open to any girls 12 to 15 years of age by Jan. 1, 2012. All contestants must be Tyler County residents. All contestants must purchase a season pass to the fair prior to Monday, August 8.

Contestants may hold only one title per year (Jr. Miss can not be the reigning M.I. Harvest Princess).

The Jr. Miss will be expected to attend scheduled events at the 2011 Fair. She will be expected to participate in parades and other events to promote the Tyler County Fair. She will reign until she crowns the 2012 Tyler County Fair Jr. Miss. She will receive a $100 savings bond, crown, and sash.

This year’s contest will be “Mardi Gras.”

Contestants should dress in Mardi Gras attire. Judging will be based on originality and creativity of attire, ability to converse and answer questions with the interviewer, an natural poise and confidence on stage.

Rehearsal will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the main stage area at the Tyler County Fairgrounds.

Rehearsal is mandatory unless otherwise excused by the chairpersons.

Paden City Eagles Auxiliary No. 2281 will sponsor a King and Queen contest on Labor Day, 2011. Ages zero to 12 years. Must have a family member belonging to the Eagles Club to be eligible to register. Must be registered by Aug. 1.

The boy and girl who have the most votes at one cent a vote will be the King and Queen. All of the children will receive a t-shirt and trophy. The King and Queen will also receive a $50 Savings Bond. Each child must have at least $25 in votes to be eligible for all prizes.
