Arraignments heard in court

Recent arraignments in Tyler County Circuit Court included:

Jason E. Smith, charged with one count, conspiracy to commit offense against the state, pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Kevin Neiswonger. Bond set at $5,000 cash, surety and a trial date of Sept. 12 scheduled.

David W. White, facing four felony counts, including malicious assault, child abuse resulting in injury, domestic battery, and destruction of property, entered a not guilty plea to the court. Bond was set at $30,000 cash, surety, and a stipulation made that the accused have no contact with persons under the age of 18, no contact with alleged victim. White will stand trial Sept. 12.

Ruth A. McNees, indicted on three felony counts, delivery of a controlled substance, and three felony counts, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, entered a not guilty plea in front of Special Prosecutor Carl A. Bryant. Trial date is set for Sept. 29

William McNees, charged with identical (six) felony counts, entered his own plea of not guilty in front of Special Prosecutor Bryant. Trial date is Sept. 29, and the cases are currently scheduled to be tried together. Both defendants are free on bond.

Naaman Bassett, indicted on seven counts, five felonies (grand larceny (2), burglary (3), and two misdemeanor counts (petit larceny), pleaded not guilty to all charges. Bond was set at $10,000 cash, surety and a trial date set for Sept. 12.

Crystal Krizo, indicted on the felony charges of domestic battery, third offense, and battery of a government representative, also entered not guilty pleas to charges. Krizo has a previous felony domestic battery conviction (October, 2000) as well as a misdemeanor conviction on the same charge (January 2000).

Trial was set for August 8. Krizo is currently out of jail on bond.

Joshua Toothman pleaded not guilty through his attorney, John Gainer, to one count felony breaking and entering, and one count felony destruction of property. Trial date is August 8. Toothman is currently out of jail on bond.

Laura J. Smith, charged with one felony count, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, pleaded not guilty and was ordered to stand trial August 8. Bond was posted and is continued.

Richard Fletcher, charged with one count felony attempt to obtain/acquire a controlled substance by subterfuge/deception, also entered a not guilty plea and ordered to stand trial Aug. 8. Bond continued.

Barbara Wells-Mease pleaded not guilty to one count, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, bond continued, trial date of Sept. 29.
