Ferry will stay open

Since 1817, the Sistersville Ferrry has been a vital part of the Tyler County community. Now, one of the only operational ferryboats on the Ohio RIver is facing the realities off an unstable economy.
Unpredictable weather and high water has negatively impacted the ferry operation this spring and income is down. But amid tough times and rumors of its closure, officials close to the operation say they are not shutting down.
Currently the ferry is in operation Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Photos by Jonay Corley)
