Paden City High School announces several recent accomplishments made by students of the PCHS band.

These students auditioned and performed in ensembles with students from high schools in West Virginia and surrounding states, having the opportunity to work with nationally-known arrangers, directors, and composers.

PCHS band member who participated in the Wetzel County Honor Band at Valley High School were: Doug Shepherd, Amanda Heasley, Dominique Craft, Katie Shreves, Lynah Stanley, Mara Greathouse, Gabi Cooper, Dylan Shank, Mallory Estel, Emily Clements, Hannah Stanley, and Kayla Hizer.

Those who participated in the Tri-State Honor Band at West Liberty University were: Doug Shepherd, Mara Greathouse, Morgan Goddard, and Katie Shreves.

Band members who took part in the WVU Honor Band at West Virginia University were: Mara Greathouse and Morgan Goddard.

Doug Shepherd also took part in the Tri-State Jazz Honor Ensemble at West Liberty University.

Lastly, PCHS band members who attended both Marshall Honor Band at Marshall University and Region One Honor Band at John Marshall High School were: Mara Greathouse, Morgan Goddard, and Katie Shreves.

“As ambassadors for our school and community, they represented themselves very well,” said PCHS Band Director Steven Jones of his students’ hard work.

Jones noted that all expenses for these trips were paid for by the Paden City Band Patrons, making it possible for all students to participate financially free.

“This has been the highest percentage of band students participating in as many honor programs for several years,” Jones added. “I am hoping this will continue with more students having the opportunity in the future.”
