Pumpkin growers plan seminar

Tyler County Pumpkin Growers annual Spring Growers Seminar will be held April 23 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the log building at the Tyler County Fairgrounds.

Beginners to advanced growing techniques covering soil preparation, germination, planting, fertilization, insect and disease control, watering, measuring daily weight gains, and harvesting will be covered.

Guest speaker will be Don Chambers, Warwood, who currently holds the West Virginia state giant pumpkin record at 1,241 pounds. Excellent genetically engineered seeds will be available for sale. Free pumpkins plants will available at a later date.

Anyone interested in learning how to grow a giant pumpkin is welcome. Admission is free and open to the public. Tyler County Pumpkin Growers is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to furthering the hobby of extreme gardening.
