Water project updated

The Sistersville City Council met on Monday at the City Building in a short meeting not covering much business.

In the absence of Mayor David Fox, the meeting was run by Recorder, Diana Mace. Council present at the meeting were Doug Williams, Dave Dietrich, Curtis Heintzman, Anne Doig, JoLeen Sidenstricker and Vance Ash.

Council unanimously approved the request by SistersFest parade chairman, Sandy Goode to hold a parade for the event from the Wells Inn, down Wells Street to the Sistersville Post Office. The parade will take place at 4:30 p.m.

Tim Meeks of the Mid Ohio Valley Regional Council and Allan Maxwell, Water-Sewer Board chairman, updated council on the water system improvement project. Maxwell also reported on the continuing progress of the Hanford City Water project, saying all was proceeding positively.

Council approved the budget brought forth by the financial committee.

Sistersville Police Cpl. A. Northcraft brought a proposal before the council which will allow the city to charge for fingerprinting and background checks needed for employment and personal reasons for non-residents of the city.

At this time no fees are being charged for this service.

Council will review the proposal and consider drafting an ordinance at a future date.
